![]() ![]() Treat undead like a 5th race with 4 flavours. The game hypes up how playing an undead will be a struggle, but it's not a huge deal. Not playing an Origin character seems to provide a better narrative experience for the personal stories in my opinion. I just finished my first playthrough and one thing I noticed was how different the impact of the personal quest was for the character I was playing versus the characters I recruited. Playing an Origin character lets you have 4 Origin Characters and therefore 4 personal quests for exp. Play Dead is actually pretty neat and you can heal yourself just fine with poison. Armor restoration works just fine though.Īnd undead is completely fine. Just keep in mind that your undead will not benefit from regular healing. 2-3 points of additional damage rarely makes the difference at the start but surviving another turn definitely does. So instead of greeding on every skill that has 1-2 additonal damage attached to it, I'd watch out for skills that CC enemies with shocked/ stunned, chilled/ freeze, knockdown, sleep or cripple or have some sort of heal/ support like restoring physical/ magical armor or healing. Just one thing that might help you: you will rely a lot on auto attacks early game because you lack skills to use several of them every turn. Escpecially the start skills you can freely chose 3 skills of the 1 or 2 discplines you have points in (Pyro, Scoundrel, Huntsman etc). The presets are generally okayish but I highly recommend costumizing them. I wouldn't read through a whole treatise on builds for your first playthrough, it's often more fun to experiment for yourself, see what works and discover ways of dealing with certain fights even if it takes a reload or two. You will keep all skills you have already learned but you will not be able to chose 3 skills like you can on character creation. from a strength-based melee to a caster) you'll have to buy/ steal the skillbooks. However if you completely change your build (e.g. Personally I prefer playing costum and taking origins as companions because I don't like getting "forced" into a certain story/ point of view but that's completely up to you.Īfter the 1st Act you have a respec mirror which lets you reset all points and talents. You can still get 3 companions and play their story as sidequests. Although you still have roughly the same choices as an origin character, it's a different point of view. Playing an origin character means you experience the story from their perspective which may collide with your perspective. I chose a costum character aswell, it's completely fine.
